I just got a set of Work emotion CR-kai's in 16x7 w/ a 44 offset, just because they don't make them in 42. 42 would be better, I will be running a 205/45/16 tire.

Don't listen to that guy.

Seriously, though, my reply quoted above was in response to someone asking about a '96 Civic Hatchback. Your '97 Hatch takes a different tire size from the '96. So my answer for you is different.

The best tire size for 16" wheels on any '97-00 Civic is either 205/45-16 or 215/45-16. Either one will work fine. Most tires come in one or the other, but not both.

The smaller size for which I am quoted above (205/40-16) is too small for a '97-00 Civic, but is perfect for all pre-'96 Civics as well as '96 DX and hatchback models (but not other '96 Civics).

Most 205/45-16 tires are approved for rims 6.5-7.5 inches wide, so a 16x7 rim would be ideal.

If you aren't planning to use these tires in snow, and you want good value for your money, get the Kumho Ecsta SPT in 205/45-16. It's $71/tire plus shipping at the Tire Rack, or $73/tire including free shipping at Discount Tire (which is a better deal). Very good dry traction, outstanding wet traction, and very long treadlife (figure 30-40K miles). Don't forget to mail in for your $40 rebate from Kumho!

If you want the stickiest street tires you can get for dry pavement, and you don't care how long they last (10-12K miles is okay), then get the Falken Azenis RT-615 in 215/45-16.

nice job man on fitment but if your vehicle is lowered more than 2 inches you are going to need to run 205/40r16.... now if you want to run R compound tires than you might want to look at hankook Rs2, falken azenis 615, new bridgestone re90R, or the yokohama aveona line up in r compound........wheels and tire wise go to any discount tire store and they will match any online price for you or get them from discount tire direct.......off set would be between 40 to 45mm offset...wheels that i would go with would be te37 from rays, 5Zigen fn01rc, konig helium blk weights in at 12.5 lbs and cheap, or rota wheels which all of these wheels are available at the above mentioned!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch out for bad advice from newbies.

Don't do it. Don't try to make up for one problem by creating another problem, like the wrong size tires.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by vtecsi00 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">now if you want to run R compound tires than you might want to look at hankook Rs2, falken azenis 615, new bridgestone re90R, or the yokohama aveona line up in r compound........</TD></TR></TABLE>

More bad advice.

I already mentioned the Azenis. The Hankook isn't as good as the Azenis. There is no such thing as a Bridgestone RE90R or a Yokohama Aveona. If you're referring to the Bridgestone RE01R or the Yokohama Advan Neova AD07, neither one comes in 16" sizes to fit his car.
