Default Lug Nuts

I need to find some lug nuts that will fit my 96 Accord EX 4cyl but that will also fit in my wheels. The head of the stock ones are too big to fit in my aftermarket wheel. I need some where the head of the nut isn't as big but the bolt pattern is still for Accords. Advance Auto had some but they required a special shaped tool that went inside the lugnut. These worried me as I'm afraid I'll lose a the tool and be out of luck. I would like to get some regular looking lug nuts and thinwall socket will work on. Anyone know where I can find these?

The wheels are Limited Tuning Alloy wheels. Here is what they look like.

These were open ended but you put the tool inside the end to loosen them. Looked like a star shaped thing that went in them. I would like normal closed end lugs that are just really slim. My buddy that sold me the wheels has them but needs them to hold his stock wheels on as he lost the stock ones. He wouldn't sell them to me even when I offered to buy stock ones for him in exchange.

hmm, you could try to get some like aftermarket ones, I'm buying some Motegi's or something along those lines, they looked more slim than stock

Well consider it this way. You're either going to need a tool to slip over the lugnuts or a very thin special socket. A normal tire iron will never get in there. This from a guy that puts up with pain in the *** rims everyday busting tires (yes, that was a personal gripe because I would never spend a dime on aftermarket rims/tire...but hey it pays the bills!)

Admittedly I don't know every product that's out there or what your friend has, but as deep and skinny as that rim looks I don't think there's an alternative. I'm not sure if anyone makes anything like this...but you might try looking for some 17 mm nuts with the same thread pitch.

Tuner Lugnuts......

probably your only option for these wheels. Otherwise there is a lugnut thats called an acorn lugnut. It looks like stock but it will work with a 15mm socket verses the 17mm you probably use.

and i think muffin man is referring to muteki's. I'm not quite sure that they will fit

Thats basically what Advance had only looked like a star instead of a few sides.

His I'm sure you needed a thin socket to get. When I worked at a tire shop in the past we had thin deep sockets. I'm thinking getting some smaller lug nuts and using that thin wall socket should do the trick if I can find lug nuts like that. If not I guess I will have to get those tuner lug nuts from advance. I'm just scarred I will never be able to get them off if I lose the wrench and Advance stops selling them. I don't want these wheels all the time. I'd like to put stock ones back on in the winter.

yeah, you may need tuner lugs.. that inverted style. it looks like there is no space for normal lug nuts

Yeah the ones where an allen wrench would fit would have been fine but the ones I found wern't shaped like an allen wrench. They were more like a star. I found some at a tire shop about 45 minutes away I went and bought that they called tuner lugs. They are not open ends like that and have grooves in them with a deep socket looking tool that fits over them. I got two of the tools incase I lose one. I hopefully won't but I feel better having two. Now I just have to wait for my tires to come in to get the wheels on my car.

I've got a picture with one rim on the car but no pictures with all four yet. I've got one on my buddy's 4th gen accord when he had them but none on mine yet. I'm waiting for the tires to come in which will hopefully be this week then I will post pics of them on the car if I remember.

18"s. I know most people here don't like wheels that big but I like how they look and I got an incredible deal on them. I got all four for not much more than one was new online. They are in pretty good shape other than usual scratches. My buddy just needed some money and had them sitting in a barn so sold them to me cheap enough that I couldn't turn them down.
