Instead of wheel spacers?
Some are against using spacers. Some suggest using a different wheel offset to accomplish the same thing. However, that means you can not rotate the tires.
I recall reading something about replacing the ?????????
Is the the rotor?
I tired to do research on this, but with no success because I don't know what this is call.
I hope this pic of a rotor does not mislead the question.

I don't know of anyone using thinner or thicker rotor hats to accommodate a change in offset. To be honest, bolt-on spacers are completely safe for performance use. I don't see why that wouldn't be the option of choice in the matter.
Spacers are fine as well.
Rotors/rotor hats can account for spacing as well, but you are much better off using spacers or getting wheels in the desired offsets; spacers is the cheapest and easiest route.
i've never even heard of rotors being made with different hat thickness than the oem it came from. seems extremely silly to me.

I'm not the only one out there that actually does race on bolt-on spacers. There's actually quite a few guys who do so for autocross, just to offset larger width wheels enough to clear their inner fender liners.
