Hubcentric Ring? is it safe without it??
Hey guys. i need some advice. i just mounted me some kosei racing senekas in 17s on my crx. the problem is the center bore on the wheel is over a 1/4 in off of the center bore on the hub. is it safe for me to drive like this for a couple of days?? or is it completely unsafe and i should take the wheels off?? i dont want to snap the studs. I just want to be safe. is it ok?? if i do get the hubcentric rings where is a good place to get it?? discount tire?? i know some people are telling me its ok for a little while but its a good idea to get it. then some are telling me its just for centering the wheel on the hub. kind of confused. any advice?? thanks j
a buddy of mine got his car lowered and put new rims on, he having the same issue. the guy that did it, told me that it is potentially dangerous and should be corrected right away. if not, there is a chnce of the rim moving back and forth against the studs and the hub...just miexperience and .02 cents...

Sorry if I am jacking the thread but can someone explain more what these hubcentric rings are? Maybe a picture of what they are and where exactly they go. I have had like 11 different sets of rims on my car but I never knew what these were. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
When the hub/wheel/lugs are designed to be hub-centric, that means there's a round stub sticking out the middle of the hub. The center hole of the wheel fits on that stub, so the center hole is what holds the wheel centered. Hondas are like that.
If you get non-factory wheels, sometimes that center hole is bored to a larger diameter. It's already too big. Then you need little rings to take up the space. Lots of aftermarket rims are cast with a small hole, then bored out to the size for whatever car.
Say you want to get some Miata rims, same bolt pattern but the center hole is too small. Have a machine shop make the center holes bigger to fit. OTOH, the guy with a Miata can't take Honda rims & make the hole smaller.

Get the Hub centric! i had some rota slips without the hubcentrics and one of the wheels got kinda loose and it #*%@ed up my studs and i had to buy a new wheel. if you're planning on going without the hubcentric then make sure you tighten those wheels really good.
