Default Flat Tire...fixable?

Just got a nasty flat tire. It's' been 8 years since I've had one. How bad does the flat have to be to consider it unfixable? It looks like a utility blade was the culprit.

Sounds like a utility blade was used to puncture the sidewall...? If so, it's not fixable.

Tires that can be repaired are the ones with small punctures (from a nail or screw) in the tread portion of the tire.
