The total for everything is $400. Is this a good deal?

$400 for the welder alone is a deal.. with the full tank and 11 pound spool you are basically getting the machine for a little under $300.

It is a solid deal; not dance-a-jig awesome, but good. For comparison, in the past two months, I got a 220v Lincoln mig (no bottle) for $350 and last week bought an Econotig w/pedal, torch and tank for $900.

So as far as welding intercooler/exhaust tubing and tack welds, this should be sufficient?

It should be fine for thinner steel and tacking things in place, but 20 amps is pretty lightweight; basically hobby welder power level.

If you want to be sure, find the specs on a welder with a similar amperage and see what thickness it is rated to. I would guess 1/8" or so thick mild steel with gas, 3/16 flux core.

my .02.
