Default thermal paste

I've heard of this stuff and seen it but I don't know where to get it or what's a good brand. Basically what it is is a paste that absorbs heat so you can weld on and close to something that will melt, like rubber bushings or boots. I make shift linkages with different joints this and the way I do it now is kind of a PITA to set up and takes a while letting it cool down to make sure nothing melts.

This is what they look like, you can see the rubber and the grease inside would easily melt/burn:

We used that in the AC business when i did that, you can try an AC supply house and see what they have for protecting stuff behind what you're soldering on. Since you sometimes have to put the torch angled towards something you don't want to burn.

I want to say it was called "Hot Damn" but i can't remember

That is pretty far away to be having problems "melting" that bushing. Also those are smaller welds looks like you are using .020" wire. Skip/stitch weld it and you have no problems. Worst case scenario get some header wrap or some type of other heat shield. Also just because the paste may "absorb"/deflect it don't mean that heat transfer won't be there and melt the inside or the sides of the bushing.

I'm not using any filler on there, just fusion... the ridge at the end is part of the stock piece that holds the roll pin. It gets hot enough to boil the water I put it in, don't really want to take chances on a $70 joint like that.

I've used this before and it works good, they have this stuff in their stores so you don't have to order it.

Awesome, just what I was looking for. I love HF's shipping, it's actually cheaper than me driving up to the nearest store. I got my engine crane from them and shipping was somehow IIRC $12. They didn't have it in stock at my local store but it worked out better to ship it anyway.

Thanks!

I checked your website but didn't see any more info about that linkage of yours. Any more details?

I don't want to turn this into a commercial thread and get it locked, please keep that to PM/email. Basically I replace the worn out factory joints or the notoriously sloppy HASport ones. Most of my customers have CRXs so all the parts are getting up in age.
