Default stainless flex section?

I am looking for a mild steel flex section for a down pipe but all I can find is stainless steel. Is it possible to weld stainless to mild steel or will I have to flange each piece?

Yes, you can weld stainless and mild together.

Would you weld it with just standard steel solid core? I've never mig'd anything other than thick steel.

you can weld it with mild steel but it will act like mild steel (it'll rust on the weld)
