this is what i bought for my 1998 jetta....

you can see its a very very basic kit. no special bends. just the minimum.
i ended up going to a local hot rod shop, and they tweaked the kit to fit real well.

i ended up saving like 200$ by buying the kit, rather than just having the shop bend one up. the kit was like 600$.(moly). i just got a main hoop, rear legs, harness bar, and door bars. the door bars and rear legs were perfectly straight.
the main hoop was very basically bent, and short, way short....

they would have done a straight up instal, but the fitment was crap. it would work....but when you figure your gonna do it once, why save a few hundred???
just get it done right and nice.

I have the 10pt for eg coupe, i am just starting to fit it up, should have it all tacked up this weekend, so far from what I can see it fits 95% as much as my last cage that was custom.. not bad for a third or fourth the cost. I'll post some photos as I progress in the install.

Will do, the main hoop is about 1 inch if that from the sides. I'll post some pics up as soon as I make some progress.

Well I can tell you this so far. The cage for this supra was ment to go on the floor plates behind the front seats, we moved it back so the cage now needs to be fabricated to fit. The fitment is not bad by any means though, its not a simple bolt in and weld kit though. The main hoop fits well , we had to shorten it down though because we moved it back on the part where the rear seat would go. All in all if someone asked me if they were thinking about getting s&w cage, I'd tell them to do so.

I think they are a hit or miss man, my hoop was way to wide at the rear pillars, it hit the metal underneath the plastics and had to be bent in, it was also really short and dog legged in alot at the bottom, it was also slightly out of square when you lay it flat but that could of been the shippers fault. It has taken alot of tweaking to get my hoop to an install ready status

I have found that to be a common issue with prebent cages. The main hoop either needs to be tweaked in or out, now I don't know how much shipping has to play with that but I also don't think its hit or miss, these companies are using a jig ( I'd hope ) so each cage is going to be pretty much the same for each vehicle.

For the normal DIY'r, how are we supposed to "tweak" the main hoop if it's out of shape?

I don't have a tubing bender handy..lol.

You could bend/tweak a main hooop by hand then weld it. If you expect it to be a simple bolt/weld in, don't get it.

The widest part of the hoop is just flat out too wide, it hits the vertical quarter window pillars, which unless I am 4'6 makes the car undriveable because the seat is too far forward. Funny if you look closely, you can see it is out of wack, look how level the harness bar is in relation to the bends on both sides of the hoop.

after having to mess with this ****, I couldnt even imaging trying to assemble a 10pt from them.

it sucks that you are far from the I am only 30min so it was nice.

I would ask for the PDF of how the cage is built, to make sure everything is right. If it is to spec make a paint drawing of what you want. My contact was Brian Z at S&W.

well I just got an email back from S&W, lolz

"I've been working with Don on your roll bar issue. We pulled the original PO from safe drives. The roll bar that was ordered was for a 89-94 Nissan 240SX. This is why the main hoop is off.
We have contacted safe drives and are trying to get the issue resolved with them for you.

I will let you know as soon as we have an answer."

I had problems with my main hoop being too low from the roof(like 3") they wouldn't send me a new one and wanted like 130 shipped for another that was 4"taller on each side so i can cut it how i wanted. so i just bought a roolbar kit for 180ish to get a new hoop for my 10 point . on the initial purchase they were pretty cool because i wouldn't run the around the dash bar so they took my measurements and bent me a though dash bar for no extra charge. not in the car yet but i think im going to have trouble with straight door bars and door panels.
