Default Rubber Protection.

Ok, here is the deal I build my own squat rack. I am an olympic style weightlifter. So basically I use a somewhat expensive bar. I need to be able to protect it as best as possible.

I will attach horizontal tubing/pipe to the vertical 3" U-channel. I would like to use 2"x2" 1/4" wall tubing. I need a way to cover this with rubber. I can use a different size of tubing or I have some 1.5" sch 40 laying around.

My original design was with 1" round stock but I bent it, from dropping the bar on to it so I need to beef it up.

So how can I put a nice thick layer of rubber around the square tubing?

Well that pic is just a pic I took after I got the weight set. I will regularly be loading 250+ lbs and slamming it on the tubing. I am more looking for a way to wrap it with rubber to make it look more of a custom factory look.

I can find the rubber but I want a good looking wrap around it.

Although I never thought of the tire and that will most likly be the most durable solution.

Uh, why has nobody mentioned Rubber Hose? Just find some 1/4" wall 2" I.D. Heavy Rubber Hose, if you wanted to go even further you could then find some 2-3/8" I.D. Hose to put over the 2" I.D. Hose and just keep layering it that way. I'll say it would be durable enough. You could probably go one step further and find some industrial grade hose with 1/2" wall or more.

Look at the very last listing on that page, abrasive material hose...mostly used for sandblasting and other types of media blasting. the Inner diameter is 2" but the outer diameter is 2-7/8" ! That's some thick *** hose.

Uh, Yeah...exactly. He said Tubing.

Tube, (Noun).
- 1.
- a. A hollow cylinder, especially one that conveys a fluid or functions as a passage.

Round + round = fits well? Yes, I think so. I'm aware that many people call square stock "Tubing" as well, but I was more focused on the fact that he posted this as well

Do we not read the whole post either?

Chad, I'd use a round section of pipe in whatever size you seem to think is necessary and put Hose over it, this will be the easiest and most durable solution that has been mentioned.

ugghh, nevemind somehow I missed the last part of your post and only saw the part where you posted a definition, thats being a passive aggresive jerkoff, sorry for my prior rude response, I tend to get a little irritated with people with attitudes like that. He also stated that he would like to use 2x2. so why not work around what he wants to use?

Forgive me for trying to help. I forgot this was Honda-Tech. I thought the Weld/Fab forum was civilized, but I can see I was mistaken.

Chad, best of luck with your solution.
