Default post your home built car hauler

Hey, I'm trying to plan out a custom car hauler for my civic, need it to be lightweight, compact and multi purpose. I'd like to see what you guys have come up with to help give me some ideas, and maybe borough some ideas as well

HAHA Here you go...
http://hooniverse.com/2010/08/27/so-...dge-caravan-2/

I thought I remembered some one building one out of a dodge caravan rear axel but I was wrong.

You can pick up a car dolly for around $500 on craigslist list and a full trailer for $2000-3000

I've been thinking of a device to tow small cars with all four wheels on the ground. Like the RV'ers do that would bolt to the factory tow points on Honda's and most other imports.

But lack of time, metal and a welder have prevented me :-(
Your welcome to build it and let me know how it works ;-)

Dont know how good is my english, but I hope this help with something:

http://200sx.lv/forum/viewtopic.php?...=asc&start=735

There you can see some peaces how one guy from 200sx club of Latvia made tow hook, to be able to get his car to race day in neighbour country. He says there that he towed car to neighbour country on high way 110km/h+ and no problems, and turning around on road wasnt problem either

P.S. Glad if that help with something

we made our own 24ft enclosed trailer. we now have two 27ft enclosed trailers and still have the 24ft one we built.

like mentioned, just buy one. we picked up both the 27 footers each for under 3k with cabinets, winch, battery.

Unless you need something super trick, buy something already built.

I think I spent about a grand in materials and took half a summer to build being lazy. Bought plans online somewhere and tweaked 'em to suit my needs. 16' "deck" if it were all there. Doubles as a scale platen that can be leveled on a hill side. The scale pads can be leveled independently and slide about to adapt to different track widths and wheel bases. Don't have any good pics of it, sorry.
