Looking to get into welding.
Whats up guys.
I am looking to get into welding, not so much as a career choice but you never know what life has planned for you. First thing I am looking at is classes. I found a beginners welding class at my community college (mt.sac). I have never touched a welder and would prefer to have some knowledge on welding before i get into the class. What equipment would be good for starters. There are different type of welding machines and would like to know what would be good for a starter. Also what accessories would i need besides the welder? What brands are good? I rather spend a bit more knowing I have a good machine.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Depends what process you want to learn. You said you don't want to get into welding as a career, is it just something you want to take up as a hobby?
Do you do any kind of work that warrants the use of a welder (automotive, metalworking, art, etc.).
Buying a welder without having any sort of goals/use/projects for it seems strange.
If you can provide more information i'm sure the guys here will be able to point you in the right direction.

Well I would like to get into fabrication if that is of any help. I just want to start off doing some welds and learning the process at first, if i find that it is something i like to do then a career wont be out of the picture.
