Default Which aluminum?

So I would like to get an aluminum sheet to make a skidplate. I would still like to be able to bend it and it will need to be welded in two spots. Here are the grades of aluminum I am able to get through a local supplier. Which should I buy? I think i will be getting 3/16" unless anyone can convince me otherwise. Cost is a factor as well.

aluminum sheet - mill finish non heat treatable

1100-H14
3003-H14
5052-H32

aluminum sheet mill finish heat treatable

6061-T6

totally depends on the temper, thickness and bend radius. They sell it in the 0 condition that is really soft and bends easily. You can bend the T6 temper, but it tends to crack on thin stuff or tight radii.

5052 is susceptible to tight radius cracking also, try to organise bending so that it has a good radius and also so the bends are across the rolled grain of the plate rather than along the grain.
5005 isn't available over there? it's my choice of a good middle of the range alloy for fabrication, particularly the fuel tanks we build.
Here in Oz we don't get any of the 3003 alloy which is a shame as it's ideally suited for rocker cover (valve cover for you guys) fabrication.
Regards Andrew from Oz.
