whats your opinion on the JDM B16A SiR I transmission non LSD?
ok so i bought a trans maybe a year ago from someone and they told me that it was a b17 transmission. so last night i decided to open it up and find out if it was really a b17 cause it had no sticker on it. i start to do all my calculations and it came out to be a JDM B16A SiR I non lsd. is this a good transmission? btw its going with a semi top half built LS motor.

I hate cable JDM transmissions. Parts are too hard to get unless you get them from gearspeed (who requires you to buy everything minus the gears, just as dealers do).

Re: (Aquafina)
I hate that there's not much available for them. I have seen rebuild kits for the 90-91 usdm teg which would work on a b16 s1 or j1. Actually I think SMSP carries them.
Ive had mine for over 100K now and still shifting great http://is.rely.net/1-92-30009-l-tEzP...BTGi0jOCgA.gif . Im not really hard on trans's though. I really need to get an Mfactory FD for it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmileo.gif |
Bearings aren't the problems I have. Its the hubs, sliders, gears, and forks that are hard to get.

Wow, nice prices.

thanks for your guys input. wow i didn't know that the gearing were hard to get. thanks for showing my where to get all parts for it. but how is it when driving with a 4.266 fd.

Be careful of the weak diff pins, they like to eat themselves https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Which is why I just spent a month trying to find a good cable B diff. Only took buying 6 to get one that was good.

Re: (Aquafina)
just replace the diff pin with a harden one..........
|
Kind of hard to do when the housing is broken, cracked, or the gears have seized onto the pin.

i'm looking to rebuild it now cause 3rd gear grinds like crazy. whats a good diff to get. this will be my first time rebuilding a transmission. it it going to be hard to rebuild a transmission?
