Starter - 12V Mitsoba SM-402-01 N
Stock B20 flywheel

Yesterday trying to fire up my b swap civic build for the first time. Been a slow project and I've tried to double check pretty much everything. Upon ignition my starter has no contact with the flywheel. I measured the travel for the shaft and I cant see why its not engaging, The shaft doesn't hit the block, or anything else that i can see, it just spins inside the trans, and unusually gets pretty hot
When I acquired the mitsoba unit i was trail and erroring a lot of teg ls units, and according to a forum from a guy with a gsr he found a 90-91 ls teg starter to be the "right" starter. But then you see other forums claiming all b-series starters are the same. This mitsoba starter is the only one i found to bolt up to my trans

Hmmmm... why wouldn't you simply use the starter that matches the year of your GSR transmission ??? The '91 Integra starter will not necessarily work correctly (I didn't even think it bolted up correctly to the hydro transmission)... I suggest you source a '94-01 manual "B" series starter.

 

this was my plan. ive tried 5 or 6 integra starters in the entire build process and only found one that bolts up, the mitsoba unit.
