Default Automatic transmission again.

I have a 98 civic hx and a 96 dx. I was going to use the dx trans on the hx since it seems like it's slipping. But when I look at both transmissions they appear different. The hx starter is near the front side of the engine and the dx starter is under the distributor. Are the bolt patterns going to be the same (engine to trans, starters etc.)?

Also after researching I found out the hx has a cvt transmission. Will I need a ex ecu if I switch transmissions with the dx?

Or if anyone could give some insight about the hx auto trans?

Basically from a stop it'll slip, won't move until you actually gas it. All automatics I drove pull once off the brakes. And when on the highway driving 60 it'll be at 6,000rpm

Thinking buying this car might have been a mistake.

You can't just swap the transmission, you also need to swap the engine harness and cabin harnes to a DX and use the DX ecu, then because there isn't an ECU that can correctly run the HX engine with a regular automatic tranny you'll have to swap the DX engine into it as well if you want it to run correctly. HX trannys also use different mounting points, which IIRC involve cutting brackets off and rewelding. Its far easier to swap in a manual and run a 5 speed HX ECU, far easier.

Cheapest option, buy a HX CVT online from Ebay, and it's not gonna be cheap.

MAYBE Honda will sell you one, but the mechanics cannot work on the tranny, only diagonse, change fluid, swap it out.

I can't convert it to 5spd since my gf and her mom also use the car.
I've looked into buying another cvt transmission but don't trust any of the used ones and can't afford a new one, and shipping to get one here would probably cost as much as the trans itself.

I guess swapping a dx or ex is out of the question if the frame mount needs to be relocated, and the wiring has to be changed.

Thanks for all the help and info.
