Default 93 Civic Auto Trans Problem

Okay here is what is happening. When you turn the car on then put it in gear it wont tell the transmission to do it. Then if you turn the car off turn it back on it gets into gear then drives for about 2 min then it gets out of gear and wont go back in. No issues puting it in park. Just the drive gears like reverse and going forward. Car has 174,000 miles with new trans fluid from what they told me. I did try using the car at high speeds and it flys all the way to 50 then something tells it to get out of gear. All help appreciated

What does the transmission do? Slip...do the RPMs just go up like its in neutral? Did it have an issue before the fluid change?

The transmission may not have been maintained properly and that leads to transmission failure in most cases. They may have developed a shift issue and figure that a fluid change may fix the problem since it may have not been done at the correct service intervals. When not maintained, the trans fluid burns up. Burnt fluid becomes abrasive and tends to scar the internal clutches and will fill most of those scars it creates. But may start to give shift issues. Then you introduce fresh new fluid and it washes all the burnt clutch material out that filled in those scars on the clutches and now it turns into a slipping issue. I have seen this scenario play out time and time again. May be the situation in your case. But, since you don't have complete details its hard to say.

Yea thats what the girl told me. That they havent changed the fluid wince they bought the car which was 1yr ago. Well I guess the previous owner didnt change it. They also told me that some silver crap came out when they drained the fluid. Is there a way to fix that problem or does the whole tranny got to be replaced

That would be metal shavings. That transmission is toast. They aren't particularly hard to change though and you can find used ones for next to nothing.
