y7/y8 mini me guys help..IAC
hey ive searched for about two hours total and still cant figure out exactly how to wire the IAC on my buddy's car. Its a y7 bottom end , y8 head, i added the wires for the knock sensor and also the vtec. But the car is still throwing a code for the IAC. I know that the new sensor on the y8 head has two wires and the y7 harness is a 3 pin.
I read one post that said to run a wire from either iac wire-- to the computer and put it in a12. The harness already has that pin.
can anyone clarify this! wire color ect. would help.
the car is 98 dx obd2 using a p2p a34 computer.
the car also wont rev past 6200

What IACV are you trying to use?
What Y8 manifold do you have auto or manual?
You can use the DX tb with the IACV attached and then plug the holes on the Manual intake manifold.

THe complete head is a y8 and manual. So the IACV is manual from y8 as well. I dont think my friend has a dx throttle body or id try that method.
actually yes he had a shop do the swap and im in the process of fixing all the **** ups. of the 3 wires on the stock harness two of the wires were utilized. The orange wire was left alone. But the other two wires(yel and blk) run to the two wires on the new IAC(2wire)
sorry if this is confusing
sorry if this is confusing
It's not confusing because I have researched this
What pin is the Black/blue wire in on the ECU (A12 or A14)and just out of curiosity, have you tried another IACV?
A12......alrighty......have you tested this line with a volt meter yet?

I don't know why you wired in knock sensor if you have a y7 bottom end because they don't have knock sensor. If you use the p2p you need to use the two wire iac if it is manual and the three wire iac if it is automatic y8's. If you don't use the right iac w/ the p2p you will throw a code. You should be throwing a knock sensor code also if you are using the p2p and a y7 bottom end. I would recommend using the dx ecu and use a vtec controller. You can use the dx throttle body with the two wire iac and won't have any problems w/ codes.

i threaded a knock sensor in the back of the block and ran it to the computer because the computer was throwing a knock code when the car arrived at my house. So i fixed that and then the iac code came. i put the knock sensor right under the #2 intake runner on the block.
at the computer the blk/blu wire is at pin 12. There is an orange wire in A13 but i dont know about what to do with these wires in coordination with the wires on the IAC.
thanks for the help so far!

Don't worry about A13....it's not used.
I'd make sure A12 is a good wire and it isn't cut.
From there make sure the Yellow/Black wire is good.

Spade: I am having a similar problem. Here is my setup: 2000 y7 block, w/96-98 head, I have an auto IM and TB. I also am using the 2000 manual ex ecu... ALL the pins are different on 99-00 but same concept, i swapped my IAC postive *black/blue to the IAC signal... I also blocked off the IAC on the TB with a cut up pop can, so it wouldnt read any air...It use to bounce idle from 800 to 2200... know its perfect @ 500 rpms.... The problem comes after about 10ish minutes of driving, it throws the IAC code... I measured the volts for it, and they are at 6, i know they are suppose to be around 12v...any idea what is up with it? I will try another IAC *i have 3 of them* in the morning... let me know if you have any info

Did you also splice in the Yellow/Black wire? You need to if not.

what do you mean by splice in the yellow black wire? it is in the right pin for my ecu harness already if thats what you mean. Here is a lil more info on my situation https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=550522
