Default Why are B20B sleeves so hard to find?

I picked up a B20B block with a cracked sleeve with the intention of sleeving it and building up a pretty nice engine. A local guy here is a great machinest and has offered to do the work but has not source for sleeves. I've searched on line for sleeves and can only find shop who want me to send them my block.

Are B18 sleeves going to fit a B20?
Do I need MID sleeves?

If you have a cracked sleeve (especially) on a B20 you will need to send the block out to be resleeved by a company such as Golden Eagle, Benson etc. The thing is, the B20 has a one piece cast design for the sleeves compared to the other B blocks which are seperate. The only sleeves (that I know of) that can be ordered and installed by someone other than the manufacturer of the sleeve is Darton sleeves. Be weary though as they are easy to **** up if the machinist has never done it before. I would personally send the block to one of the companies I named above and them give it to your local machinist for the final clearancing and possible assembly. Whatever you do don't try to cut corners or you will be very sorry.

Before you sleeve that b20, check to see how much of the block is cracked. If the crack doesnt go all the way down to the bottom, then it can still be sleeved.
But if it has gone down all the way to the bottom, you can't sleeve that anymore. the foundation has been compromised and wont be a good block to sleeve.

We get these blocks once in a while and we have to turn them down because it just doesnt provide a good foundation for the new sleeves that will go in.

So check on that. We dont want you to spend money on something that can give you problems in the future.
