where to splice universal o2 sensor?
ok i got a universal o2 sensor crimp ons but the color combo is off. on the universal its purple brown brown tan and on the honda o2 its white black black green so which ones do i connect together and where should i splice it. im assuming try to make it close to stock length as possible so i dont accidently add any resistance?

Your assumption is right in regards to the length of the o2 sensor wire.
As far as color codes, what brand universal o2 sensor do you have? do they give you a diagram telling you what each colored wire represents? The 2 browns are likely to be your ground signals, which are black on the honda sensor. I wont guess the other 2 wires, but if you can find out what the purple and tan wires represent, it'll help.

Although I'm not sure of your specific application, you might want to look up the wiring for your car to know for sure which wires you need to cut, I got my simulator from http://www.o2sim.com and they had a accurate diagram for my civic at least plus I referenced a Honda manual. I just installed one of these in my 00' civic w/ a SI harness and my setup was simple, my simulator was for my secondary o2 and it had 3 wires one spliced to 02 signal ground and the other two wire were placed so that basically one wire was connected to the sensor side of the cut signal wire and the last wire was connected to the ECU side of the cut signal wire. I did these w/ crimps later on I was having my SAFC wired up by my buddy who was a master tech at a local speed shop here who also has a Electrical Engineering degree from the millitary, and he re-did what I did because he told me that any time you make a break in a wire with and use something like say but connectors that ads more resistance to the wire so since I had two but connectors on my signal wire apparently that was a lot of resistance and he was supprised that it was working, long story short if you can solder your connections it's well worth and almost always advised, that's basically what he ended up doing to my wiring harness.
I bought a Denso universal sensor for my 93 Civic DX and, after much research, I found the following re wire colors.
Universal Denso Sensor Wire Colors
Blue = Signal
White = Ground
Black = heater
Black = heater
93 Civic DX Connector Colors
White = Signal
Green = ground
Black = heater
Black = heater
The following sites support this:

I connected the wires by color as shown above and per the new sensor's instructions, and it works great.
I bought the universal Denso sensor on Amazon for about $43 total.
