What is common cause of head warp
I have seen many listings re: Honda engines with blown head gaskets. I'm convinced that some where along the way this engine over heated. So we all know an antifreeze leak, bad thermostat, cooling fan failure and i'm sure several other things can cause overheating. So was the warped head the result or the cause. My main concern is that if it is a cause, then do i replace the head gasket, retorque the head or what to prevent this failure.
if the motor over heated then a warped head could be the result. depends on how hot the motor got and how long it was running while over heating. I would take it to a machine shop and let them re deck the head then replace the headgasket.
Have the head checked, hopefully its not too warped and can be shaved. The cause is/was most likely niglect. A well taken care of honda is bulletproof.
im having this trouble now with my car, i have 100-100-30-30 compression, (1,2,3,4) so i figured head gasket, car never over heats, no oil mixed with antifreeze, had an after market headgasket on it already. im getting the head milled today, its a d15b7.... its my beater and im spending money on it, i hate that
make sure you use an oem head gasket and new head bolts, old ones are garbage

I would suspect that with those compression readings, and that list of "non-symptoms", that you have some other issues going on here as well. What else have you found?

nothing, car ran fine on friday night...no fire on saturday night but heres the thing, when we took it apart, it had an aftermarket gasket on it
it could have over heated in the past causing a warp, they could have reused head bolts, who knows what else, and i drove 25 k on it, but the compression test confirms that there was a break between the 2 cylinders. so this explains the no oil/coolant mixture.
head just got pressure tested and milled today, it had 5000th of warpage in the head. i have all new gaskets, bolts and fluids coming, this bitch better not be a lemon

How do you know it was an aftermarket gasket?
The 88-95 NON VTEC Civics(D15B7, B2, B8, D16A6, etc) ALL used composite head gaskets and were KNOWN to fail...even when properly maintained!
There is an updated part out now....or you can just use a 92-00 Civic VTEC head gasket

i thought it was aftermarket because i bought an aftermarket one for an eclipse and installed it and it was similar to this... carbon material i believe.
the new head gasket i got was a 3 layer metal gasket i believe, but if your gonna do this, make sure you get your head checked for warpage, i never had any over heating and my **** was warped. good luck pimp
