What alternative MTF can I use
Some of you guys have read my other topic about the manual transmission fluid leaking out of my car. I was wondering what alternative I can use since Honda service/parts is closed today and I can't pick up any MTF from there. My friend said they have some additives in their fluid that make it better to use but I was thinking that there's gotta be something else I can use that is just as good. Is there?
Thanks

You can use 10/40 motor oil and it will be fine, but as soon as you can change it to MTF. MTF = improved shift quality and longer synchro life.

try im'ing BlackDeuceCoupe. hes real smart about that **** and i think he totally recommends something like NEO oil for it. Im not crazy about Honda MTF myself, and it takes a lot for me to say that. Im a freak about oem honda. also, be careful about using other tranny fluid, because just about every manufacurer uses a different fluid for manual trannies (ford uses atf, honda uses 10-30 oil or honds MTF, nissan uses GL-4 75-90 gear fluid, just to name a few) so be extremely careful just buyin "manual transmission fluid", because its probably not ~10w30 oil.

i work in a honda acura service garage, it all depends what year is the transmision. most older transmisions call for plain old motor oil, unless a honda service manual, or tech specifically states to use MTF, use 10w30. its a pain in the *** to fill without a lift. if you want to go the synthetic route, use castrol, or mobil 1, and if you really can afford it use redline. remember to change the fluid every 15000 miles.
