warm start problem w/ sputtering/stalling
I'm currently having a problem with my (Honda Civic DX 2000 Hatchback) sputtering and stalling. It pretty much started 2 weeks ago, I remember I almost ran out of gas where the light just came on then, I filled my tank to full. I then drove a few miles and parked and shut off the car. An hour later I started it and it started to sputter and wanted to stall, and actually did a couple times while driving, but it always starts back up. I changed my fuel filter and already went through 3 tanks of gas with fuel(injector) cleaner and I'm still having the problem. It mostly does it during a warm start after driving it for awhile and I let it sit for an hour or two and I try to start it (sometimes it has a problem starting at that time) then it starts to sputter and sometimes stalls. I already took it to two mechanics and they couldn't find the problem or it didn't sputter/stall for them. What I'm seeing online is it could be maybe a dirty throttle body, ICV , ECM or (fuel)main relay?. I have aftermarket exhaust, headers and air intake system. This vehicle have no codes showing up. Any suggestions? Thanks!
it isn't dirty throttle body, icv (don't know what that is) or your ecm or your main relay. how many miles are on the car? did you check the spark plugs? maybe ignitor in distributor?
Car has about 110K miles. ICV( Idle Control Valve?). I had spark plugs and wires replace a year ago and last mechanic said they were good and that the distributor was all good also. Example of what happen last, I drove to school in morning and was fine, parked car for about 2 hours, had alittle problem starting but did, It sputtered alittle and I got on the highway. Got on the highway and all of a sudden with pedal on the floor I'm not getting any gas and it trys to and sputters alot but never stalled yet on the highway.(I never lose any power with radio or lights) It usually would stall when I almost get to a light, but most time starts back up and a couple times to get it to start. It seems fuel related.
Well i have a 2000 civic si & i just dropped in a poor man's type r & my car is doing the same thing. After i dropped in the motor i turned it on & it started fine, but i let it idle for 5 min. then it just died. I thought it was out of gas, so i put a few gallons in & i had trouble starting it. I let it sit for an hour and it started again, but i let it idle for a few & it died again. I checked my distributor, replaced the cap & rotor, and tested the coil, which is good and put everything together & it started fine. so i let it run for a few & it seemed koo, so i drove it around the block & it started sputtering & stalling & died on me. radio didn't turn off or anything. When i tried to start it again it wouldn't start, & it made a loud humming noise from behind the glovebox. Idk wat it could be but i've heard feul pump or relay??? can anyone help please
