Vtec point question????
i was curious what some people out there had there vtec set at with running the JRSC. I talked to jackson4door and he told me 4k and i was curious to see what others have theres set at because i had mine set at 5200 and i wanted to know what would be the best . thanks let me know
Honestly and I've heard this more then once believe it or not the stock setting is perfect. Some people just set it lower since the usual stock engagment point ( usually on DOHC's is between 5,600-5,800 RPM on most STOCK ECU's ( i'm running a PR3 ECU on my B16 now and I have mine set at 5,000 RPM with a V-AFC when I set it lower it really didn't feel any different and below 4,500 if possible is juts pointless. Now I'll be honest and I'm kind of new to B series I have messed and tuned ZC's for the last three years but have recently swicthed now to bigger and better things..VTec motors on stock internals usually have absolutely nothing till VTec kicks in which for some is just too high and they want the power alittle earlier. My friend has a OBD2 B16 Turbo EK HB and his is set at 5200RPM. Really you have to spend some $$$ and get some Dyno time to find the best spot until then it'll just be a matter of what feels better. A dynoe is the only real way to know if where it's set at is the best.
Yes but you have two VTecs and I rememebr just as a example a person posted here they hooked a light up to their VTec soleniod on a GS-R motor and the light was barely lite at low RPMS and didn't feel like it was making that much power and once he got to a certain higher RPM the light would get bright and he could feel the difference. Something like Stage where GS-R's are two stage and the new K series i-VTec's are three. I may be wrong.
