Vtec at 4500 after Vafc2 removed?
Im asking this question for a friend. He has an '01 Integra Gsr with a Vortech supercharger and aftercooler. He had the vafc2 hooked up just to play with his vtec engagement. He took it off and his vtec now engages at 4500rpm. SOoo..he hooked it back up and changed vtec to 5600 and then took it off and it still engages at 4500..what could be causing this? Wiring wrong? There is no cel. He has an O2 sensor simulator . Any help is appreciated!
if i'm not mistaken. stock vtec engagement on a gsr is 4400-4500 rpm's. when he hooks up the vtec controller, it's probably set to engage at 5600 rpm's.
Nah i think his factory vtec is at like 5500 or something.I might be wrong tho.Im not sure when the butterflies open.I'll ask him and see
Well when his vtec engages at 4500 it is loud as hell and we cant even tell when the butterflies open but thats probably just because of the supercharger...Oh well it still hauls *** and it seems like 4500 is a good place for vtec anyways on his car. SOo i'll jus tell him that its stock. Thanks for the help @ries
4400rpm is the stock VTEC engagement point for all 94-01 integra GS-R's
5500-5600rpm is the butterflies opening up which is what most people hear and "think" is the actual VTEC switch over but its not.....
also since your friend removed the stock intake manifold for a supercharger your only gonna hear that initial 4400rpm switch over........if it hauls *** then leave it alone...........
