Valve lapping compound?
The local salvo's has the lapping tool, but the chuckleheads look at me like I've got four arms when I ask them if they have lapping compound.
Where is the best place to order this online, and more importantly, what kind should I get?
Thanks for the replies

autozone usually has it in stock but dont ask them for it because they dont know what it is ... i had to show it to them one time and explain what it is used for ....
i am currently rebuilding my head(seals) and i have it all apart and will be cleaning up the head/valves. should i use lapping compound? and is the proper way to use it putting it on valve seat and installing valve and turning valves to smooth it out? i just dont want to get my head back together and have the valves sealing improperly. is it also imperative for the valves to go back in the same place i pulled them from?
yes. keep the same valves with the same valve seats. i mark them 1-8 on each intake/exhaust side. the way i lap valves is with a electric drill. put the compound on the valve, install the valve into the guide with the head combustion chamber up. find a rubber hose that fits onto the drill bit ( phillips) and the valve. stick the hose onto the valve stem, grab a wrench extension (this is what i use, you can use something else) and push on the valve from the top while turning the valve with the drill. if the valve starts squealing, its dried up and you need to put more compound in before you continue. do that till all the marks in the seat are gone. have fun
