tuning with a vafc question

Id just run a chipped ecu. i hear that the vafc's arent very good to tune with because they trick the ecu's map reading tuning the fuel map pretty good but does not do much for the ignition?
I dont know that much about tuning though. SVOboy has given me advice before

i was just curious because of the stock rev limit of a p28 not unless u can change that on a VAFC? thats why i asked just confused because some of my friends have a chipped ecu that has a vafc
