I have recently trashed my transmission at the drag strip. ive been lookin at a few different options. i know i want to put a quaife lsd back in it so im not doin this again, but i dont know if i want to get the parts i need to fix my b16 tranny or if i should just get another tranny and start all over.

i was thinking about gettin a gsr tranny and maybe swapping some gears around. but ive searched around and i know that people have built hybrid trannies but i havent been able to find out what exactly u need to change. i would like to have my 1,2,3 from the b16 and then 4,5 from the gsr.... but i dont know what all i have to change or which final gear to use. if any one can point me in the right direction thanks!

also... my setup is a b16 on 7lbs. if anyone would like to add some advice on the set-up i should use... im open for all opinions.

so what happened to your current tranny?
blew the differential im assuming; if so step up to a lsd and freshen up the internals.

by fixing yours youll know you have pretty much a new tranny with a better diff.

 

i blew the diff. and then when i tried to drive it home the pieces from the diff got thrown around and it fucked up my final drive, counter shaft, and ripped a nice big hole in my tranny bellhousing . so i dont know if i should just buy new parts or just build a hybrid.

 

i would rather build a hybrid, b/c i do a good bit of highway driving everyday so it would help with gas mileage. i just dont know what i need to change or if i need to buy anything to do it. or which final drive,gear sets, forks , etc.
