stock honda MTF.

Specialty LSD trans fluid is for clutch based LSDs.

The stock LSD is a helical LSD. No special clutches

I'm wondering too, which oil I should put ! But I don't know what LSD I got ... I bought it and the lsd was there and it is not the OEM ... Should I put de MTL from honda anyway or don't take the chance and put an LSD oil to be sure if i dot a clutch lsd ?

Less than $5 per quart. Not much at all considering you only need 3 quarts to do a B-series transmission, and the fluid doesn't get changed terribly often.

I'd verify what type of LSD you have before deciding on a fluid.

Yes sir. That's one reason why I can never understand why people insist on using regular motor oil. It's not difficult to buy the Honda MTF at a local Honda or Acura dealer, and you're saving a few dollars at most (depending upon which motor oil you compare it with).

Went to Honda today and they told me that Honda uses 10w-40 oil. I asked even with stock GSR LSD and he said yea so I bought 3. Hope it works.

I know if you ask some guys in the Drag Racing section they will answer you in no time. Some of them will also tell you to post in here tho.

Good luck.

They lied to you, plain and simple. I would have gone to a different dealer where the employees actually knew what they were talking about.

To begin with, Honda now recommends MTF for all the manual transmissions, and prior to that, 10W-30 was used. If they're filling with 10W-40, they're wrong on two counts.

There is also no LSD in the GS-R transmission.

Quaife is a helical LSD, same type as the stock LSDs, and as mentioned above, need no additives. Stick with the Honda MTF.

OP: Padawan is right on, do not use 10w-40. Even 10w-30 is merely listed as an alternative if Honda MTF is not available.

Go to a local (but different from the previous one) Honda or Acura dealer, and ask for the new Honda MTF. Then drain and refill your transmission, and see if it improves. If it doesn't you can also try GM Synchromesh Friction Modified fluid, which many individuals have good results with.

Depending upon the condition of the transmission, it may need new synchros, but try the fluid first.

Ok will do. Also, where do you put the fluid into? I found a tiny hole but its very difficult to get a funnel into.

What do you guys think about the VTM-4 fluid? Used for the MDX and Pilot for differentials.

I borrowed this photo from another thread. Make sure those are the bottles you're getting from Honda. The GM fluid in that photo actually isn't the one I suggested, since it is not the Friction Modified forumula.

I'd use Honda MTF for now (buy 3 quarts), and the instructions on filling the transmission are in the link I provided.
