I bought a busted (synchros) GSR tranny and just replaced the internals w/ B16 gears and mainshaft, a CTR limited slip, a JDM FD and countershaft set and all new Type R synchro sleeve sets. When the case was closed, the mainshaft was extremely hard to turn. It was able to be turned using a clutch disk to provide leverage. It was installed on the car, and started making a clanging noise that seemed to come from the bell housing, but it might not be. Just that the bell housing might have increased the noise. It engaged in first and reverse (I didn't dare take it out of the driveway), but was extremely difficult to remove the shift lever from the reverse position.
Anyone have any ideas?? I have not removed it from the car yet, since it is at my friend's house. I am hoping to take a look at it tomorrow.
Thanks,
Ken

Damn, why did you install that? It should have turned freely.

Did you install part #11 correctly?

Yes, #11 was installed correctly. We decided to put it back on because we were thinking that it was turning (although with difficulty), making no noises and since the parts were new that it would break in when the case was together and filled with fluid.

I am in Spring Hill area. Both my friend and I have done multiple tranny rebuild before. This is a new problem that neither of us has seen before. I will be going over in the morning to start the teardown. Should have results by tomorrow night.
Keep the suggestions coming !!
Thanks.
