Default ticking related to timing?

hey, i have had an annoying and very loud tick coming from what appears to be the top of the block and the bottom intake side of the head for some time now, and it goes away after about 3k rpm, or when i decelerate by leaving the car in gear. at idle it's very loud...like a loud diesel kindof. i know aftermartket pistons will sometimes "slap" the cylinder walls, but it wasn't making this noise until after i changed out the head gasket and put it all back together.
i've been driving with the noise for a fwe hundred miles now, have taken apart the head and all the valves are in good shape.

my question is this: if the cam timing is off, could it make the pistons gently tap the valves and make that noise without harming them? it seems to be coming from all the intake valves.

here's my setup: d16y8 boosted, arias pistons, eagle rods, apr head studs, resurfaced block and head, v-afc with 440's.

i checked the timing with the timing light and all seems to be well.
would any of this affect how i would need to to line up the crank pulley and camshaft sprocket?
any help appreciated!!!

did you check the actual valve clearance? you might need to adjust your valves.

it might also be your injectors, try putting a screwdriver upt to your ear and place it on all of the injectors. My injectors are make a loud ticking noise like you described.

yea, that valves have been adjusted to spec. i was thinking it may have been the injectors, but the tick seems way too loud to be them. i'll try to borrow a set from a friend and see if the sound is still there.
