Its possible they changed thread pitch... Are you sure both bolts are indeed for the tensioner?

Got it threaded in there right, but then it decides to snap in half with half the bolt in the block. NOW WHAT? lol

Now you have to pull the motor. I had a similar problem in my em1 and I didn't have enough space to install a timesert so I can't imagine having enough space for a drill and bit. I would drill the bolt out but you are going to have to be very carefully not to make things worse then install a time sert.

sucks.
Even if you threaded the bolt in say 1/4th in or something it can still cross-thread.

i'm 99% you or someone else cross the threads from trying to apply upward tension to the tensioner with a flat screwdriver. Some people do this but apply too much force which ends up tilting the tensioner & when you try to tq it down it' cross-threads

take motor out, make sure to properly drill and use timeinsert. before putting motor back into car, use new tensioner bolt and tq to 41lbs to make sure it holds.

Well the bolt isn't coming out as easy as I wanted. So I tried the easeout technique drill a hole tap the easeout in there then turn and it's not working at all. Any other ideas? I heard a torch gun would damage the block if I used one? Really would appreciate feedback only thing holding my build

take engine to a machine shop and just have them do it and not tear up the threads cost like 20$ or so per bolt but its worth the not aggravation of not getting that bolt out / tearing up the threads
