Default Strut tower support (Tiebar y0!)

What is the optimum mounting point for the front upper tie? I looked at the factory bars that come with the CIVIC Si and GSR's, and they all mount right behind the strut mount, to the tower it self. I am sure I am wrong, but why do you not want to tie the actuall strut mount points together? I know some bars do this, but based on Honda's engineering knowledge, I assume that they way they have it is better. But why? It just makes sense in my mind to tie the top of the struts together, rather than 3 inches behind them, and tie the towers together. Pros and cons of both mounting positions are wlecome. Just wondering what you guys think.

Thanks

Rob

In an Integra's suspension design, lateral loads are transmitted to the car via the upper control arm. The strut receives no lateral load so tying them together doesn't make much sense.

That makes perfect sense. But then why would they tie the towers together right behind the strut mount? why tie the towers at all? It would make more sense to stifen the controll arm mount area.

Some people seem to think that the load comes in at the UCA at the chassis mounting point and stops there, but in fact it twists the entire chassis and that's why we brace it. Your optimum mounting point on the front is the two larger bolts where the UCA is attached to the chassis at the strut towers. Thats what the Neuspeed bolts to. But you will still have a positive effect at diminishing chassis twist if you brace a different location.
