STOCK CRVTEC, what rev's?
heya all!
i was just wondering what a stock CRVTEC would rev to? what would I have to do to the bottom end to rev 8400 safely? btw: this is with a stock b16 head, stock timing..etc
Would ARP Rod bolts be all i need?
Thanks a bunch!,

to get it to rev to 8400 you will need a full balancing and rebuilding of the bottom end with new bearings and all. apr rod bolts definately if not aftermarket rods. the more built the motor the safer it is up high. im building an lsvt and everything will be new with aftermarket rods and pistons and acl bearings, fully balanced. thats what i suggest you do...but its your car build it how u like
honestly from what i have seen. if you simply use arp rod bolts you can rev to about 9000 or so. no typo.
this from what i have seen done. in the old motor chuck had stock ls rods, arp rod bolts and ctr slugs....that engine saw over 9200 a few times....

Stock cams are not making power that hight why do you want to do that> Best rpm is round 8k, thats safely, 8500rpm w/ springs retainers and cams, otherwise its pointless.

it is pretty pointless to do it....but it can be done ya.
he has to use either stock si or gsr cams or MAYBE r cams with NO cam gears......id be carefull though because the piston might hit the vakves due to the valve reliefs (sp?)

I wouldn't go that high without at the bare minimum ARP rod bolts... I'm not saying that the stock rod bolts won't hold up to 8400 cuz I'm sure they will... My friend's COMPLETELY stock bottom end LSVTEC revs to ~8500 (I hate that motor tho)... I would take the time to get a set and even with stock pistons you'll be fine to ~8400... As I've said before my friend's stock sleeved CRVTEC running 12.0:1 84.25mm JE slugs revs to 8400 on an ITR ECU... STOCK RODS/ARP ROD BOLTS It's just running a Portflow GSR head with a CTR IN cam, GSR EX... RC310's, SK2 IN man and sprockets... Tuned by feel with a VAFC... In his full interior daily driven EK he ran a 12.62@107 on M&H Racemaster 22x9.5x13 slicks.... Pretty good for a simple CRVTEC... Forgot to mention he's running a 2000 Si tranny w/ Quaife LSD... I can rev my to 9500. The best thing to do is dyno the car and see where the power band is. My max. power is at 7300. Therefore, there's no point for me to go that far high.
i try not to go over 8000.... and i have a fully built head and bottom end.... i have pulled it to 9000 but it felt wierd, and scary.... i've only done that once....
Stock bottom end, I would not rev past 7200 rpm. To cater to higher RPM operation, balance the entre rotating assembly to 10K+ and cryo the block, rods, rod bolts and bearings OR if you are a lazy bastard, shotpeen the rods, get ARP rod bolts, and cryo the bearings.
