Steering Wheel Shakes while braking, in 95 Civic EX
it's not my car, but my brothers car. The suspension and engine are stock.
When he brakes, everytime, mainly on hard braking, the steering wheel shakes from 40-60mph.
What gives? Alignment? We just replaced the brake rotors and brake pads, and it didnt change a thing, btw.
thanks

yea i did a good break in w/ the new pads/rotors. Right now the rotors are mint.
The problem was not effect AT ALL by throwing in new brakes....

so thats the ONLY possibility ?
Even if it did this will old pads, old rotors, and now it does it with new pads, new rotors, that are no where near warping ?

well, rotors don't really warp. It's just pad material transferred to the surface. Try bedding them in again. I dunno. A wheel out of round or not balanced?

no it's not only going to be rotors, everyone assumes so, regardless of symptoms.
if you've replaced your brakes, get an alignment, and tires balanced.
after you've done that, start troubleshooting your steering system.
MY steering wheel shakes and rattles when braking hard, and i just replaced my brakes, rotors and pads. my problem is my steering. Either rack, or power steering pulley, etc. i got my helms out and im about to troubleshoot it.

With suspension, it would happen all the time, not just under braking.
First guess would be brakes; but since you've replaced the main components, my only other guess would be that the wheel is slightly off balance.

Like others have said, get your wheels balanced, wheel alignment checked/reset, and then inspect your suspension bushes and see if any are deformed, perished or otherwise look wrecked.
You might alos want to torque your wheel buts up evenly on the front wheels and see if that gets rid off the problem.
Good luck dude.

Wheel bearings? My rotors are warped and my front right wheel bearing is almost dead.. when i touch the brake pedal at 95kph + it vibrates so much you think the wheel is gonna come off.. :/ It did so before i replaced my Frnt/Left bearing, after it was quite better.
Im just saying that if they got alot of mileage!!
(mine is 205 000km)

I had a similar problem on my 94 teg. I turned out that the rotor was not sitting flush on the hub. After a few minutes with the grinding wheel, I got the rotor flush. No problems since.
