I belive my speedometer cable is clicking. I took out my cluster today and soon as I engage in first gear and ease out I hear this clicking noise that seems to be this cable. It really only happens when I only pull out in first gear though. Should I just replace the cable. I checked to see if the cable is in the tranny right and everything seems right. So what else fellows should I check out. thanks

 

Sometimes just pulling the cable out of the housing from the tranny end and lubing it with grease will take care of it.

 

I'll try that next, hopefully that will work because I don't feel like replacing the whole speedometer cable.

 

Yea, it's a pain in the ***.

 

Get a new cable, they are $5 at a junkyard.
