shotpeening rods?
i am picking up a set of forged piston for my Ls/Vtec. i wanted to get rods too. one of my buddy told me about shotpeening the rods. How relible is it?, How much h/p can the rods handle? and will it hold a 100 shot of NOS?.
Thanks

Shotpeening a cold working metal treatment process. Basically it is bombarding the surface of the metal with tiny round carbon steel spheres.
Most material failures in metal are due to tensile stresses on the surface. When you shot peen the metal, it introduces compressive stresses to the surface. The now compressively stressed surface metal serves to deter any tensile and corrosion stress failures. It increases the resistance to surface stress cracking, and also resists the growth of any surface stress cracking.

I totally agree, Eagles are inexpensive and will hold up under the extra F/I forces a lot better...

Eagles will work great, I've personally have never seen/heard of any problems with them... It's up to you to make sure your oil clearances are within spec... I will just about always take Crower over Eagle but I was trying to keep the price down... I love the 4340 Steel Billet connecting rods... If your choice was between Eagles and Crower Econo Billets I would go with the Eagles... Latez
