Default ??? SHORT SHIFTER TOOL ???

OK...im doin my short shifter on my 98 civic ex and i took the senter console, etc off and disconected the shift linkage...i tried using vice grips and flat tipped pliars on those bolt things from inside of the car, but none would work...i was wondering if there was any tool that would help me because these things r hard to get to and they wont let me unbolt the shifter housing....im really gettin mad...i wanna put this thing in...any advice u could offer would be useful

AND OH YEAH...TO WHOEVER SAIS SEARCH...I SEARCHED FOR AHWILE FOR SOMETHING OF THIS SORT AND FOUND NOTHING SO JUST POST IF U CAN HELP ME OUT...I NEED TO DO THIS ASAP BEFORE MY EXHAUST GOES ON...

what bolt things are you referring to? have you tried getting under the car for easier access?

Those flat topped bolts are still 12mm. Have a friend sit in the car and hold them in place while you losen them from the bottom.

no im talkin bout these these flat things...they arent really bolts cuz thet are like ovals sorta...idk its wierd...unless ur sayin use a 12 mm wrench i guess..idk...i just need help...and its nto from under the car...its inside of the car

Yes, you can use a 12mm open ended wrench to hold the oval bolts that are inside of the car. However, you do need someone below to hold the 12mm nuts that are attached to them.

or you can make it easy on yourself and take the entire linkage out of your car and remove them taht way

and also to confirm this i just replaced my shifter and the oval bolts are 12mm
