Default shocks vs. springs, easy explanation

can someone give me an exact/easy to understand explanation of each...

springs==stiffness of the ride? how much body roll etc etc?

whereas
shocks===actual bound/rebound on 'specific' bumps?

that right?
ahh?

You have seen the effects of no or bad shocks. They are the cars that continously rise and drop while most other cars around are stable. The shocks damp out that pogo effect. Typically the more performance rated the shocks the harsher the ride. Spirings on the other hand suport the weight of the car and allow for travel when the pavement is uneven or if you hit a bump. Soft springs, soft ride with more body roll. Stiff springs and the body roll is reduced and ride is harsher. If you want a smooth ride and little body roll install good quality shocks along with a good quality sway bar both front and back.

No man, don't explain it like that. That is way off.
