Default Shift linkage problem

Ok so I had my mom's mechanic install my clutch. The clutch seems to be okay but one of the bars from the shift linkage fell off yesterday while driving. Not the bar with the pin that does the actual shifting, but the other one that is bolted onto the tranny. The reason it has falled off is because the threads on the inside where the bolt goes in is all fucked up. I just found this out right now because I picked up 2 new washers and the bolt from Acura today and when I tried to put it back on right now the bolt goes all the way in w/o having to screw it in. So, what can I do? I don't feel safe driving it. Am I fucked? Can it be fixed? TIA.

Ok one suggestion I got was to get a tap and die kit. Will this work?

Also I got another problem. While my car was jacked up, there was fuel leaking from the rear of my car, behind the driver's side rear wheel. The car was jacked up in the front on the passnger's side. This isn't normal is it?

The other suggestion is to take it to the mechanic and tell the SOB to fix it.

No, that's not normal. You need to find the leak and repair it. Your mechanic wasn't back there too, was he?

i'd tell the mechanic to fix it. it wasn't doing that before was it? or did you not notice it? damn it, just take it back and complain saying it never did that until you got it back from the shop.
