What's a J1 tranny? And which Type R motor?

S1 & J1 are the old cable trannies.

The answer to the question is.. Yes. JDM S1 & J1 have the same gearing, and same ratio gears as the USDM Type-R tranny.

A well-known site messed up the specs on those when they updated their site.
Other sites copied it. Its all wrong.

1st gear should be 3.230

2nd - 2.105
3rd - 1.458
4th - 1.107
5th - 0.848

final drive: 4.400 (for all b-series trannies except for the 94' & up RS/LS/GS and JDM Type-R)

damn.
Maaad typo's on that B-series tranny guide!

S1 & J1 trannies share the same ratios which are identical to hydro b16a and ITR/CTR 4.40fd trannies, with the exception of the 5th gear being a little tighter in ratio spec (for the S1 & J1 trannies).

The JDM XSi/RSi and US B17A/GSR YS1 transmissions have the exact same gear ratios as a hydro b16/ctr/itr trannies though. If you come across a JDM XSi/RSi YS1 tranny with LSD--- get it!
