Default Running a chipped ECU with no chip

I couldn't find any info on this, and I'm new to playing with ECUs, so sorry for the nood question. Anyhow, what I need to know is if I can run my chipped PR3 ECU with no chip in it as a normal PR3. I just bought a 2nd gen B16 and ECU and need to drop it in. The motor's stock, so no need to tune it at the moment. I didn't realize that the ECU was even chipped let alone that there there was nothing in the socket until I pulled the cover off this morning.

Do I need to burn a P30/PR3 basemap and put that in, or will it run fine without anything in there?

Bump, no one knows? I don't have a burner, so if I can just use the ECU as is, then I will. But if I need to go burn a new chip, then I will go find one.

It won't run. There is no internal rom like on the OBD1 ecus, you need something in the spot for the chip.

OH, I guess I should clarify. My PR3 ECU is OBD1 not OBD0 (it's from a 92 Integra XSi). Does the above information still apply to it?

Lol, then not really. The J1 jumper selects whether the processor uses the internal or external rom. Cutting it makes it run on the internal rom, so it won't be looking for the chip. Pardon my Assumption.

Perfect, that's what I need to know. Thanks for the input!
