Default Rubber hose for ls/vtec??

Why do people always use braided stainless for their LS/vtecs? Can I use a rubber oil hose?

Anoher q, on what part of the head do the dowel pin holes need to be enlarged (int or exh)? the cspeed racing site has it one way on the text and another on the pics.

Oil line is pressurised (around 100 psi cold).

vtec will not engage unless you are makign 50 psi at teh head, the stainless line should be more durable, though there are rubber liens that can hold beyond the pressure needed for vtec. for as cheap as vtec conversion kits are i dont see why you would not run stainless braided line.

It's not really the ability of QUALITY rubber hose to hold the pressure but the hose ends. Do you really want to trust your engine to a barb fitting and hose clamp?

It's do-able, but as stated in the prior post, with the reasonable price of "kits" it's not worth trying to save a couple bucks!

well cant ferrules be installed onto rubber hoses?? I live overseas and I dont have the ability to order such kits, Many stores here can build me a hose for an aplication like brake lines with ferrules at the ends, but the hoses are rubber (at least on the outside, maybe they are nylon on the inside)

thanks

Contact Lightning Motorsport (a sponsor of this site) and just have them ship the kit to you.

Even if they will not do it, there has to be somebody on the net that doesn't have a problem with the shipping.

if a local shop can make a custom hydraulic hose it will work great. those hydraulic hoses often do way beyond 100 psi of pressure and you will never see that with the vtec system.

have u looked into golden eagle's kit? Do they ship out of the US? I have that on my ls/vtec and it worked great. The dowels in the kit make it so that there is not machining required on the head.

I can have things here with a courier but its a bit of a hassle and too much wait, I need to get it moving fast as its my daily driver.

Ill go for a normal hydraulic hose that has ferrules at the ends, ss is just for looks cause there is no heat or anything near that.

thanks
