replace or fly cut?
well i had LS pistons in my block and an ITR head. valves were to large for these pistons. im trying to call JE up and see what they can do about this because they told me when i was first getting my block built that i could use these pistons no problem. i also clayed the motor too.
i figured i could either fly cut these pistons, which would save time and perhaps some $$. or get a set of correct pistons. which would be more money and time.
they are JE 11.5 84mm pistons. if i get them cut i can just throw them back into the block and get new intake valves and call it a day, but the edge of the pistons needs enough room from which i was told by JE. would this be just as good?
if i get the new pistons,i (the shop) would need to do all fitment procedures again.
so what should i do. anyone have some opinions/advice? right now the block is in the car, i took off the head, oil pan/strainer/pickup, so its just mounted with the tranny. im not going to take the pistons out untill i figure out what i want to do
edit: could a Mod please add "pistons" to the end of the title. "replace or fly cut pistons". please, thanx

Since JE told you that the pistons would work no problem, I would tell them to fix the problem that now presents itself. Not only should they give you new pistons that do fit, but they should either press fit them into your block or pay to have it done. If it were me, I would insist that they correct thier mistake.

when i clayed the motor. i clayed like c-speed said. claying just tells if the valve is going to hit the releifs or if the pistons is bottoming out.
that is how i clayed mine. notice that it doesnt show anywhere that clay should be right behind the reliefs. this didnt cross my mind either because i "thought" i had the right pistons for the job.
