I've been told once you put a phantom grip in you cant remove it without removing the entire diff......is this true or can it be taken out?

You can take it out as long as you haven't welded it in.

You need something or someone to compress it enough to put the rataining tabs back on with the pins. I think I am the only one who actually has a set lying around, so you may need to make something that can substitute.
