removal of stock brake rotor
I got my wheel off (pass side first) and I'm attempting to try to take out the bolt holding the calipers to the rotor piece... those are 17 mm right? I can't seem to put enough torque behnid it and where i can is a really awkward position. any advice?
Yes it's a 17mm, and they are very tight. It's not hard to get enough force if you're using the right tools. What are you using? And try turning the wheel to one side to get more clearence.

Those are bitches, the first time you try to remove them. They are 17mm.
I have used a breaker bar (copper pipe or something beefier), or a spare jack to push the socket wrench.
I assume you already shot them with liquid wrench or wd40?
A good solution would be an impact wrench. Small 12V ones that are meant for removing wheels are handy for things like this. Sometimes you need extensions to reach odd places like calipers though. I have one and I've used it for lots of random tight bolts.

A breaker bar is a good thing to have. especially for breaking those real tough bolts.I.E axle nuts, caliper, control arm.
Any pipe that you can put over top of the ratchet will work fine. The more leverage the better as for length but keep it realistic, you don't need the thing 6 feet long.Good luck
