Radiator Frozen. Help please....
My radiator is frozen solid. It slipped my mine to change the anti-freeze for the winter. I had too much water I guess. It’s a Gsr.
So yesterday I go to crank my car up and I hear my belt squeal (which it never does) then some knocking sounds, then I hear nothing at all, then some more knocking sounds. It ran for about 15 seconds. So I cut the car off and popped the hood. I see water coming out of the radiator and also notice some coming out of the water pump. I squeezed my radiator hose and notice they are frozen almost solid. So I took the radiator cap off and water starts too pure out of the water pump.
I took a space heater and thawed it out some. The water in the top radiator hose has melted. The bottom is melting.
Could it have been ice going threw the water pump making the knocking sound?
I check the oil and did not notice any water/oil mixture.
What should I do? Could I have messed up some stuff?
I may have forgotten some things...I'm still in shock.
Thanks ahead of time.

Do you mean that you can see your water pump? Do you not have the plastic cover over the cam gears?
That doesn't make any since.
Very possible that stuff could be messed up.
It is possible that if the water froze inside your block, it could have done some serious damage.
The fact that water was pouring out from your radiator, then at least it wasn't frozen solid.
I'd defiantly keep the heater on it for a while. Thawing out the radiator and radiator hoses is not going to help if the fluid in the block is still frozen. The knocking sound was either chunks of ice going through your water pump or your water pump blades being broken off.

Sounds like you froze the water in the block and water pump. The pump is driven by the timing belt. Most likely you sheared the impeller off the pump shaft. If your real lucky all you ruined was the pump and the radiator. There's a good chance the block or head is cracked.
I cranked it up today and everything seemed fine. I need a water pump and i'm not sure if i need a radiator or not yet.
Thanks for all the help.
