Default Question about cam install, no vtec?

Me and my friends installed a gude race cam into a friends 95si hatch.. Now the car will not hit vtec.. I dont understand.. I double checked all the plugs and everything is good. The car idles fine and runs good but just no vtec.. Any ideas??

I assume the cam has the required profile? No CELs whatsover?

did u make sure all the rocker arms are equal and flat lying. if not the pins in them might be ingauging but running into the side of the other rocker arm. just a guess but i noticed they would get stuck and lie unflat when i put in my ctr cams.

yes it is a vtec cam. It came from my friends 98ex

check the oil, make sure your vtec pressure switch and solenoid are connected also

make sure all the valves clearances are adjusted to gude specs, if you have a 98ex (d16y8) cam in a 95si (d16z6) you'll need an adjustable cam gear, because the z6 is timed ~5* faster than the y8 (or so i've heard)

Theres a little dowel pin and rubber oring that goes in cam journal 3 make sure you put that back in...That will cause vtec not to ingage.
