Power steering pump battle
hi,
the bearing in my power steering pump started to make a terrible noise. I bought the proper bearing (NOK with one side sealed). Disassembled the pump, replaced the simmering and the bearing. Assembled all and everything was OK. Nice and quiet. But after short time I found some power steering fluid drops hanging behind the pulley and noticed that pulley is wobbling quite a bit while rotating. What went wrong? I suspect that wobbling makes an axle moving up and down an this move casues a leak in the pump.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Aren't there two bearings in the pump?
Perhaps it's the internal bearing that is allowing the pulley to wobble?
I have never opened a pump up and have opted for salvage units because of time and cost. They rarely fail unless terribly neglected or freak issue.
Good luck

if a bearing failed to the point it got loud, it did damage. Why did you opt for the bearing instead of a rebuilt pump? They are as good as new if not better and you know nothing else is wrong with it.
