Popping sound under cornering load?

Since I installed a set of SPC adjustable upper balljoints on my '93 Civic, I've heard a "POP" whenever I apply a high cornering load, ie. more than one full turn at slow speeds, or high speed off-ramp with less steering input, etc. It is independent of speed, amount of turning and direction, though it happens more when turning left. It also pops again when straightening out the wheel, sometimes.

I was thinking that the camber is popping out of adjustment, but this doesn't seem to be the case. I've marked it and checked it periodically, and found no change. I have torqued and over-torqued the adjustment nut. Also, this is not a CV joint clicking. Is it possible that my tie-rod ends or something in the steering rack is f-ed and it is just coincidental that this happened with the camber adjustment install?

I'm about at my wits end here, since it's been months like this and I'm worried that either something is really screwed, or I have a (more) dynamic camber curve and am going to fly off the road, soon. Please help!

UPDATE: I had marked the camber adjusters and driven around on them for a few days and must have heard them pop atleast 20 times. However, after checking the marks, they appear to not have moved. So, something else pops when I make a hard or abrupt turn. If anyone else has experienced this, or has any ideas, please let me know!?!

The car is barely lowered, maybe an inch, with adjustable coilovers and I am running 14x6" wheels with a 30mm offset, so the wheel doesn't appear to be hitting anything.

Well, maybe I'll just use this thread as a notepad, since no one is replying.

I'm still trying to figure out what this sound is...does anyone think it is possible that the upper balljoints aren't properly lubricated? I read this could be a source of 'abnormal noises', but I have yet to tear them down, since I can't find my grease and this my DD. For the love of God, someone talk to me!

No one answers my questions either. I hear your pain. No one can diagnose a sound without sitting in the car, and even then, there is little chance you'll find it. You probably over torqued something. Buy a torque wrench, loosen all the suspension stuff up and torque it to spec. Popping usually occurs at a bushing. Grease them up after your torque them properly.

I have creaking from a swaybar that comes back periodically. Then I have this ringing over bumps that I swear sounds like a loose washer on a bolt. But it's no where to be found and can't be reproduced by striking my interior with a rubber mallet. In a hard corner, I have this swish that sounds like a metal box of loose change sliding around. It's probably some residual broken glass, but I stripped the interior and even looked inside the gas tank. Nothing.

Re: Popping sound under cornering load? (shaundrake)
True enough about not being able to really diagnose the sound. I'm just looking for ideas, since I can see nothing rubbing, and it doesn't depend on how far the wheel is turned, merely on the force applied (ie. less turning at higher speed = more turning at lower speed).

Your idea about an over-torques bolt causing a bushing to creak is a good one! I do have a torque wrench and have checked my tie rod ends and the upper balljoint nut. I haven't checked the castle nut that connects the upper balljoint to the spindle arm(if that's what it's called, as I'm kind of blanking).

I'm just trying to sort this out before my first (hopefully) HPDE in a few weeks! Thanks again for the help.
